i have a 91 civic hb (1.5L), i am getting a surge when idling and when i acelerate i get a delayed response(it almost cuts out). I am getting codes 14 and 10 and i have a check engine light on. I replaced the o2 sensor and the fuel filter. I have a feeling that i am not getting enough fuel but not sure where to turn. I replaced the fuel pump so that is not a problem. I am leaning toward a clogged fuel line or a faulty ecu. I have been working on this for the past two months and i am stuck.
thanks for any help Last edited by stuc34; 02-13-2005 at 05:17 PM. |

actually mine in a 1.5L, a typo. But ya its weird, my driveway is pretty steep and i was going up the driveway and i had the acellerator to the floor and just barely made it up the driveway, seemed like there was enough gas getting to it. If ure not getting any codes u might have a bad ecu.
on ure car are you missing the turn signal lights on the fenders??? |

ya, mine was on the fire wall on the lefthand side. It was pretty easy to change, prolly took 10-15 min It was easier because i had the manifold off when i was putting it on. prolly take u maybe 30min because the bracket that holds it on is a pain to get to.

Re: problems with surging on my 91 civic
when you try and go, does it sound like it's going to die when you press on the accelerator? and does it idle and not die?

YES mine is on the passenger side, my car has like a half second interval between blinks, at the end of the code it pauses for like 2 sec. |

Re: problems with surging on my 91 civic
WOAH if you press the gas and all it does is rev up then your clutch is going up on it, that happened to my car a while ago i was on route 40 and I left the red light and it just wouldnt go it would go slowly but would just rev up mostly, so if thats it you better know how to fix it, otherwise it'll be around 800 bux cuz you have to take out your tranny......By the way if there isnt really a pause between blinks do I have a bad ecu??

ok. if your engine's rpm's will go down like to a point where the engine is about to die without engaging your clutch, your car may be running rich. You may want to have your coolant temperature sensor checked out. If the sensor is not working properly, you may experience a hesitation when you press on the accelerator. Also you might have a no start due to the engine thinking that the car is cold when it's hot. therefore it dumps too much fuel. You may have with your fuel pressure regulator also. just a few things i would check from past experience with my Honda

I am not really sure. i would think that it should not blink at all when nothing is wrong with it so it might be bad. I would ask somebody that would really know. You could check with a honda dealership they would know for sure.(i ordered a ecu off ebay for 20$ shipped mite want to give it a try, ill let u kno if it works for me)
I am going to try a different ecu if that doesnt work, i will check the coolant temp. sensor. do u know what they run$$???? what do u mean by "no start". I will check the fuel pressure too if the ecu doesnt work. do think it could be the ecu?? thanks for ure help Last edited by stuc34; 02-14-2005 at 09:11 PM. |

it only did this going up the hill. it was fine on flat ground(still getting delayed responce tho). i am not sure i still think it is because its not getting enough gas. Last edited by stuc34; 02-14-2005 at 09:04 PM. |
