Will an HF tranny bolt up to the DOHC Engine?
Folks,
Will a CRX HF Tranny bolt directly to the DOHC ZC engine? What about the clutch components? Also, what parts will I need to replace on my DOHC ZC setup? Would asume the Integra axles would need to be changed back to standard CRX axels and I would no longer require the intermediate shaft. Why am I doing this? Simple answer: I need better fuel economy because I'm on the road constantly. |

Thanks Ice! I guess I would also need to find some standard CRX CV axels as well correct?

For the axles, it depends on what model your car was originally (or what front wheel hubs you got on) because there is a difference in spline count.

If you need better fuel economy why swap a ZC and not rebuild you HF engine. just curious? what you pay for your zc rebuild you can use towards your hf rebuildand you will get far greater fuel econo. the zc is a little fast engine compared to the HF mated with a Hf tranny you might want to invest in a aftermakert clutch kit for the HF. I put a new clutch on my HF(stock replacement) and in 8mos I needed a new one (that was with a 1.6 si engine.) and for the clutch components you will need same year like i.e *90-91 HF clutch*.

Re: Will an HF tranny bolt up to the DOHC Engine?
Interesting info on the HF engine. My car originally was a DX. I have considered building the ZC HF hybrid Tranny. Just don't know of a place to get the job done around the Ft Walton Beach, FL area.

Re: Will an HF tranny bolt up to the DOHC Engine?
I got the CX model for my 94 civic hatch and it has an 8 valve. Fuel economy is good, but I can't make it up many hills LOL!! But just curious, whats your average on fuel consumption on your ZC right now? My set up consists of a DOHC ZC with USDM Si tranny, Injen CAI, DC 4-2-1 Header, universal exhaust (2.25in piping), ACT clutch and Clutchmasters Flywheel, and a chipped ECU and I still average 30-35mpg combined city/highway driving.
