Re: d16z6 VS. zc

the d16's are alot easier to get stuff for. i have a ZC i think its a better engine but harder to find stuff for, however, u can use alot of d16 parts on the ZC enought to make a BIG difference.

Re: d16z6 VS. zc

I used to have a d16z6 and loved it but, I like my DOHC ZC a little better. Feels stronger. However, if I was starting from scratch, I would go with the d16z6 due to parts availability and you're more likely to find a dealer to work on a d16z6 easier than a JDM ZC

well yea but i do all my own work so no need for a dealer who charges 50 dollars an hr. lol, i agree though the zc is alot more punch to it

Re: d16z6 VS. zc

D16Z6 all the way also do the OBD1 conversion. If you ever want to upgrade your motor, parts can be found anywhere. A Doch ZC is very hard to get parts for and it has less power potential. Maybe max you can get 160 HP N/A out of a ZC and be reliable. The Z6 you can get about 190 HP N/A and it still be reliable. Then there is always turbo. Try and find a turbo manifold for a ZC. A B manifold has to be modified to fit. From what Im told from a couple local shops the ZC doesnt like turbo it breaks rods.

Re: d16z6 VS. zc

The DOHC ZC is a better choice for me because I used it as a direct replacement for my tired stock engine. It's kinda nice to have a JDM engine under the hood too.

What are you talking about meng? any d-series manifold will work. I like both motors though, im not going to favor one or the other. Personally I chose a zc because i didnt want to change over to obd-1 (laziness), wire up vtec, get a controller, and the zc was just cheaper. Some advantages of the z6 though are, its a newer motor, has vtec (if your into that kind of stuff ), more aftermarket support. BUT, there is plenty of aftermarket stuff out there for the zc too. I think what im gonna do is put a bunch of zc parts links in my sig or something cuz no one seems to know of any. Also, both motors have weak rods. Their like the size of my friggin pinky. zc rods have always been known to have a breaking point of about 200hp. I dont know for sure, but i would assume that the z6's rods are just about the same. Anyways, either way you cant go wrong, both are great engines.

z6

z6 w/ a sohc zc block w/ bolt ons = 12:1 compression and some crazy HP numbers from a dseries.
