freaking battery

damn optima battery i got it like a month ago and havnt drove my car yet this winter because of the head gasket. i start it up at least once or twice a week, but today i go outside to start my car and it turns perfectly, the i turn on my radio and five min later the car shuts off, i go to start it theres no juice. so i then jump it and it turns over, i leave it running while i go inside for five minuits then i come back and my cars off and it wont start back up again wtf , anybody got any ideas?

Re: freaking battery

Check your alternator and wiring from the alternator making sure everything is hooked up. The battery is not the problem.

Def. sounds like alternator because it has the problem after the car is running. I agree with MK...check that stuff out.

Re: freaking battery

I got an optima battery, they are well designed, very durable, and very hard to kill. Its gotta be somethin else unless you got a defective one. peace

Re: freaking battery

If your battery is going dead prematurely, it's not the batteries fault.

Re: freaking battery

Re: freaking battery

definately sounds like the alternator. around here autozone will test batteries and alternators for free on the car.

Re: freaking battery

There are more things in the charging system than the alternator, but that is a good place to start. It looks like you should visit autozone for the alternator check, and hand it over to the mechanic if there is another problem.

Re: freaking battery

correct me if im wrong but i thought that 2g's had the voltage regulator and everything inside the alternator so the only thing it could be is battery, alternator, or cables? i guess it could also be a short that only happens when the car's running but thats not very likely
