transmision problems

my trans. is having problems i cant -put it in rebverse and when i put it in nuetral it goes foreweard i was told this wasd a lincage problem what do u guys think and how much do u think it will cost to fix

i just fixed this same problem in my friends car the other day he had the same problem but there was no reverse in his car or drive it was an automatic tranny..the thing we did was replace the whole tranny and it took us about 3 full days and about 400 bucks plus im only 17 and just learning but we replaced the tranny along with the torque converter and everything and it works so my advice would be the same to do a tranny swap

thanks 4 the help but i got it fixed it was obviously something simple because i had someone fool with it and then i put some tran. treatment in and now it works fine
