91 MR2 NA to swap a Turbo engine?

Hey guys, I found a 91 MR2 na version that has a bad motor.

Is it a fairly easy swap to find and put in a Turbo version?
I would emagine the ECU would also have to be replaced?

Thanks much for any imput!

It is more than likely that I missed some items.
IMO it's best to purchase a turbo rear clip if wanting to do a swap -- the gauge cluster is not needed and the NA cluster is better IMO

what is there to deal with -- the original redline would be obsolete and you can "imagine" a 7250 redline if you want -- nobody i know with a NA cluster minds the tach needle redlining early.... kinda fun with passengers

besides -- what are they going to gain beyond a different redline on the tach? oh yeah -- they lose the voltmeter (which i like) to get the "boost gauge" (dummy light IMO)

You do the swap, keep the NA cluster and see 6000 rpms on the dash and that is what you are really at?
#1) most OEM tachometers are inaccurate to a point.........

#2) when the NA tach reads 6k rpm you still have 1250 more to go it's just as accurate as the turbo tach -- just the redline is set lower for the NA powerplant

Re: 91 MR2 NA to swap a Turbo engine?

I decided, just to replace the 5sfe with another (good) one...

Does a intake and going "cat-less" help it breath better & improve performance?

It would seem to, it would still have plenty of back pressure with the exhaust manifold & stock rear muffler?

Any imput there?

all of those things will offer a slight performance increase and will also sound quicker
