I Think I May Have a Problem On My Hands..
With a prospective student. Weeks ago I was assigned to call "Priority One" students in the Oregon/Washington area who had not completed an application, to inquire about their continued interest in Linfield College. I spoke to one senior in high school who was still on the fence about applying to Linfield, but who was a charmer in every way. All I truly recall about this young man was the incessant flirtation towards me, no matter my attempts to get off the phone. I went to bed early last night (about 9pm) after having a long weekend and was woken up at 10pm by a phone call.....from him.
Somehow he has gotten my room number and he wanted to talk. Of course I was in quite a stupor from being so tired, so my two minute conversation skills were lacking. However, in that moment of confused stupor, I gave him my cell phone number. I didn't realize the full extent of what I had done until I woke up this morning. I don't know how he got my room number. But if he got my room number, he can certainly get my location on campus in less than a two minute search. I can only block his calls if I knew his number, but that requires not answering my phone until he leaves a voicemail (which could be weeks or months), or trying to recall what his full name was, looking up his biographical information in the school's computer system and going from there. However, I don't even remember his first name, and in the midst of his caulky attitude last night he refused to give me even that. :help:

I would stay away, if I were you. At least for the time being.

I live here. This is my phone number. I can't very well not answer my phone for weeks or months.

I would check with the campus administrators to see if the telephone system has a call logging function. It may be possible to get the number that you need from there. And if he rings again....tell him to behave himself!

Only a few people have your room number I take it?
Umm, sounds like a stalker to me(I may be jumping the gun on calling him a stalker, so forgive me). I'd have the phone system checked or something like Taranki said. Thats about all you can do, or, go with your approach, but that would be a bit hard, because you can't remember his first time. |

Basically what Taranaki said. Have the phone company track him down and get his info that way. Then, if need be, take whatever action against him.

Thank you for the advice, everyone. It has meant a lot, once again to come take refuge here at AF. I have decided to refrain from taking action. I highly doubt that he will call again. However, if he does, obviously, I will have to take a stricter route. Thank you again! I'll see everyone around the boards.

it is possible to block a caller. it is something similar to *69 but a different number. so if you learn the code then you just hit that code and it blocks the last caller. It works. we had someone pranking us so we blocked them.
