Engine Whine

I have an engine whine in my 92 geo convertible. Seems to be getting worse. Any ideas? What should I look for?

Re: Engine Whine

It might be the alternator. When the bearings are going bad, it starts to whine.

Re: Engine Whine

could also be water pump or timing belt idler. take the fan belt off and see if noise goes away, if it does its the alt or water pump, if not its probably the timing belt idler

A loose alternator belt will cause a whine. Try tightening that belt.
