opinions on the 6 cylinder vs. 4 cylinder GTIs

would really appreciate any advice and opinions from you all.

trying to decide if the VR6 is worth the extra expense, weight, insurance, etc.

who thinks the 4 cylinder is better overall, aftermarket, maintenence, etc?

who likes the VR6 and says its worth every penny and headache?

i have read tech info til my head spins and have test driven a few and i really can't decide.

and if you have any favorite model years, please say! Basically, they keep getting heavier but more powerful, so there's good and bad to say about "progress"...
