ok heres the run down on what happen.
My jeep is a 96 GC limited with just over 100,000 miles on the V8 318. Ive only had it about 6 months so i dont know too much about it other than that stuff. Anyways, I took into a shop about a three weeks ago to have a leek fixed between the tranny and TF then i took it to another shop to have a tranny flush. One of the two shops had broken the connector coming off the O2 sensor on the cat ( sensor is located at the rear of the cat with about 8" of wire then a connector) and failed to tell me about it so about a week later my check engine light comes on. I did the toggle the ignition three times trick and it came up with codes 12,21,55 ...O2 sensor ..So I set up an appointment to get the sensor hooked back up but today it died on me and wont start again. A few days ago i noticed that whenever I would go to start it up the RPMs would drop way down and on a few occations it died on start up. Then today I was driving down the road it died ...hasnt started sense. The odd part about it was when it first died all my gauges froze for a second before dropping down and now none of the gauges move at all with the key in run position, even when i try to start it. Btw the engine does turn over but does not start. Things Ive done /tried already New fuel pump and filter about 2 months ago new air filter about 2 weeks ago new breather cap about 2 weeks ago Checked for valve on Injector rail for fuel ...fuel shot out and hit the hood. Checked for spark ...NO SPARK. So here is my question ...with there not being any spark from the coil or plug wires what all does that leave me with as far as diagnostics? Could it be the O2 sensor not being hooked up causing me to not get any spark? bad Coil? Faulty computer module?...Im not sure what else to check here or how. If anyone has anyother Ideas or has had a like problem please let me know. Sorry for such a long post, just wanted leave as much info as i could |

HI, DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON WHEN YOU TURN KEY ON. COULD BE A BAD CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CHECK THE WIRES DOWN TO OXYGEN SENSOR. THEY COULD HAVE BEEN CUT OR BURNT AND SHORTED OUT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AS THEY ARE ON SAME CIRCUIT, ALSO CHECK THE FUSES IN DISRTIBUTION BOX BEHIND BATTERY ALSO CHECK WIRES DOWN BY FRONT DRIVESHAFT HOPE THIS HELPS. CHECK TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY CODES. QUESTIONS HOLLER DALE [email protected] |

Ive checked all the fuses and no the check engine light does not come on while trying to start.. It does have two O2 sensors on it ..the first being upstream near the point where the two head pipes come together and the second one being in the rear of the cat witch is not hooked up do to the fact that one of the mechanics broke the connector and it has not been fixed yet. Thanks for your speedy reply
Edit: where would i find the Crankshaft sensor? |

Re: Re: 96 GC possiable electrical prob??
I got it fixed, It seems that the O2 sensor shorted out my PCM when the wires touched on my Tcase. Long story short it cost me $476 and 3 trips to the dealership for the repairs. However the shop that fixed the leak between my Transmission and Tcase is refunding my money for those repairs because i have reason to believe that they were at fault for the O2 sensor connector being broke, witch in turn fried my PCM
