Girl With Problem/question!!

Just now, as I was driving home..there was a bad knocking sound/grinding sound under the hood. ((Not exhaust)) I could smell something from under the hood/no smoke. When I pushed on the gas the car would make the knocking noise, and it would barely drive. It felt like my car was going to die. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? PLEASE EMAIL ME OR WHATEVER ASAP! I HAVE THINGS TO DO!
THANKS!
KEL

...I'd like to hear the sound....simple things first, before going for the weird: did you check the oil level lately? What's the car (engine) mileage? Did you have any alarm? Checked needles for Hi temp? Lo oil pressure ? How would you describe the smell? Antifreeze smell? Oil smell? Check for coolant level, blown radiator hose...('89...)....

Re: Girl With Problem/question!!

have someone take off the serpentine belt and see if the noise goes away. If it does, it's probably a tensioner or idler pulley bearing or water pump going bad. If the noise stays, it's a more serious engine problem and you should have it looked at ASAP.
