Exhaust smell inside car

I have a 97 escort 2.0
If I try to run the A/C or heat all I smell inside the car is exhaust. So I'm driving without heat. After I get out of the car I can smell exhaust also. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Take the car to a muffler shop and have them check the exhaust system. Sounds like you have a blown doughnut gasket (gasket where the manifold runs into the exhaust pipe). Do you hear any hissing when the car is running? Worst case, you have a cracked exhaust manifold, but the only way to know is to have a shop check it out. Many will do this for free.
