k, ive got a huge problem right now i got my car back from my mechanic and he told me when he changed the oil he put 5 quarts in it, last time i changed my oil i only put like 3 in it. now im about 20 miles away from my house, checked my oil and it's about an inch higher than the top mark on my dipstick, so i was just needing to know wtf am i supposed to do? i dont wanna risk driving it without knowing for sure. it's a 95' gst, does anyone have any clue what i can do, im kinda in a jam so would it be ok to drive it, or is there any way i can get sme oil out of it since i cant really get under it right now? thanks

Re: huge oil level problem need help now
you can drain the oil a little bit,bUT it will be very messy seeing as your not draining all og it. justtake out the oil plug and let it drain for like 30 seconds then put it back in

Re: huge oil level problem need help now
You can drive it BUT be real easy on it....
You MUST have a word with your mechanic this is something he should have checked before you even got your keys back!!!!! How qualified is he if he can't even fill oil to it's proper level? Easiest thing would be to open the drain plug and let enough seep out until proper level is acquired. Last thing is find a new mechanic.....

Re: huge oil level problem need help now
Our motors take over 4 quarts. Damn near 5 with a new motor and filter.
A common mistake is filling the oil up to the mark with the front end jacked up. The dipstick is at the front of the motor on our cars, so you should be able to figure out why. I always leave it half a quart low, lower the car, then top it off. Run it, and check it again. Odds are he did this on a lift though, so I dont know how it happened. How much is an inch on the dipstick? I avent looked at one in a while. By looking at the distance between the marks you can estimate. FOr example, if the marks are 2 inches apart, one inch over is an extra half quart. Either waym why even both posting about it. In the same amount of time you could bring it back and show him the dipstick. If he doesnt drain it and refill correctly, call him an asshole, and go home and do exactly that yourself. It'll cost you 5 bucks.

yea i was only posting this last night cuz i was at my girlfriends house and wanted to get something done about it fast but its kinda hard getting under our cars without a jack or a lift, but i found a dsm chat room and someone suggested driving up on a curb and letting some oil out which is just what i did. it worked except after that i was covered in oil, it worked out though cuz my girlfrined thought it was hot
oh well works for me i guess...
