well it doesn't matter if the amp is more poweful than the subs.
I was always told its better to have a more powerful amp than subs, in case you ever want to upgrade, and that way you know your subs are pounding to full potential.

i dunno if you'd want to do this, but forget about the rear speakers. they kinda mess up your whole sound stage, i have some 6.5" speakers in the back, but i unhooked them, and its been like that for like 6 months and sounds a lot better

And buh_buh was right, you can run a more powerfull amp, you just turn the gain down on the amp so you arent dishing out more then your woofers can handle -- and presto

but if I unhook my rear speakers, won't I have no music coming out of the back? And also how do I adjust my front speakers so that they are at "optimum listening position"?

that's the point for unhooking your rear speakers, because it brings your soundstage up front where you are. and to adjust your fronts just place them in your stock locations and listen, then have some one hold them i guess in different places and see where you like them. i think the best thing to do would be to place them in kickpods, or atleast your midbass and then mount your tweeters somewhere higher so it's pointed directly to your ears. best thing to do is just play around with it.

The "optimum listening position" for speakers and tweeters would be in kick pods... why you ask? It has to do with sound -- which travels in waves. Your stock speaker locations, the driver side speaker is clearly closer then the passenger side speaker -- which means the left side waves hit you before the right side waves do. Want to know where the best spot to sit in your car right now is? Oh right about the hump between the two front seats -- now I dunno about you but its pretty hard to drive sitting there. So... this is where you drop your speakers and tweeters (if you have them) into some kick pods. This levels out the path the waves travel, and will get the waves as close to the same length as possible. Some other things you can do is adjust your headunit. Since you are no longer running rear speakers -- why do you have your head unit feeding power to them? Adjust it so its faded all the way to the front -- and while you are playing with the adjustments you might as well play with the balance as well. These are both "generic" ways of adjusting your sound levels -- same with the bass/treble adjustments on the headunit... but if you dont understand the whole concept of listening to something and trying to adjust it -- not going to really help you now will it?
