Re: hlp wit cylinder head cleaning
easiest way is to take it to a shop and have them wash it/acid dip. its not easy to remove built up carbon deposits but its usually onle like 20 bucks to have them do that.
just make sure you have new valve seals and cam seal. i personally would strip it all down first then take it to them but i suppose you could just hand them the complete head i've got a y8 head that i've taken apart, cleaned, lapped the valves etc etc. and engine degreaser works well with just simple cleaning but doesn't remove any carbon build up. plus i found that if i did not put a little oil in the valve guides they began to show signs of rust.. from the harsh chemicals in the degreaser. so there again i would recommend the shop because they will use safe chemicals(or so ive been told) mine: |

Re: hlp wit cylinder head cleaning
also to help a bit with the removal of that carbon buildup you can use the typical shop method of kerosene, and oil mix, and a scotchpad or fine grit wet sandpaper... NO POWER TOOLS!! unless you truely know what you are doing (port matching, and port flow only for power grinders/die grinders).
