evacuate ac
how do i evacuate the air conditioner? im trying to sell my compressor but am afraid to unbolt the lines. can i just relaese the gas? i dont want to pay 200 dollars for pepboys tank usage. thanks

I don't think you can legally do that. I also wouldn't recommend it, not good for the environment. So no, you shouldn't. You can have it removed at most any automotive shop that repairs A/C.
But to answer your question about releasing the gas, yes. If you do (which you shouldn't) try not to breath any of it in. It's some nasty stuff.

Wow Pepboys wants that much? Call a local A/C shop, I'll bet they'll do it for much less. Listen to V-K, it's not good for the enviroment and it's illegal. However, you can get a screwdriver and push on one of the valves to test if you have anything in the system.
