CEL on again. Please read

This morning when going to work, i started the car and headed down the block. All the elctrical cut out for a 1/2 second, then came back on. When it came on, the CEL did also. The car ran fine. I just came back from AutoZone and got it tested, and they said the idle sensor was giving the code. Now, my battery connection to the + isnt the best right now, kinda loose. I think, the car lost power because of that, the the idle sensor got confused and gave the code. I'm going to reset 2nite, fix the battery connection, and see if it comes back on. Does this sound right? Any thoughts on what could have caused this?

Sounds about right although your alternater should have took over if your battery connection came undone. Unless you have a bad alternater.

The same thing happened to me; hella cel codes and several other electrical problems, all from a crappy electrical connection to the positive terminal. Retighten and you're probably good to go. Good luck.

Re: CEL on again. Please read

Common cause of that is running with no battery hold down. Hit a bump, and the battery posts hit the hood. The quick short resets the ECU. If the battery terminal comes off, I dont think the motor will still run right even with a good alternator. I had a battery that lost 1 third of its liquid and the voltage just dropped, from the internal resistance, alternator was fine. Not sure if DSMs are setup differently. Has anyone ever removed the battery on a DSM with the car running?

Yea, when I went to buy a new battery I jump started my car with cables to cables. Bad battery was in the trunk and drove like that all the way to wally world. Just make sure you dont kill the car or shut it off before you make it to the place that your going! If the alternater is good, you should be just fine without the battery in or hooked up!

Re: CEL on again. Please read

I did some rewiring, changed the contacts on the battery, and changed all the wires to using gold contacts... Anyways... reset ECU, and everything is good. No problems now. Thanks all
