1996 2.2 153k, Head Gaskett Replacement??
Just wondering if ya'll think someone that has never attempted to do such an invasive mechanical proceedure, should attempt to replace a head gaskett? If so does anyone know of a website that might show you how to do this step by step?
Thanks, Bcubed |

Haynes is very good on showing you how to do it. Don't over torque the bolts either when you put it all back together.

Thanks for the advice. Got the haynes book. It is very enlightening. The leak I have in the head gaskett seems to have stopped. I did try some bar's stop leak a couple weeks ago but i wasn't sure if it had taken. The main reason I am having this problem is because the radiator cooling fan went out and I was sure what was causing the temperature to flucuate so much whenever I would drive the car. I replace the fan motor and relay today which probably could have, if i had done it sooner, prevented the head gasket leak. So a note to everyone out there:
If your Temperature is Flucuating while you drive your car, check your fan, it is a simple $23.99 fan motor and a $10.00 relay. Go ahead and fix it, before it is too late. Not sure if I am going to tackle the head gasket thing yet. I might have to call in the reserves(father-in-law) to help tackle this one, maybe I will learn alittle in the process. Thanks, Bcubed |

Extra hands and knowledge is a good thing. I could type up a how to, but it would be darn close to that of what the Haynes or Chiltons would show you.
