Turbo going bad, need help.

Ok the Turbo on my 95 GSX is going bad, i bought it that way and didnt know at the time ( poor research b4 i bought the car ) but i want to replace it without speding a ton of money...all i want is to take off my stock one an put on a new one...but i want the new one to be more powerfull....he says 18g will be just fine for the replace ment. its not a kit just the Turbo it self....so my question shorted up is will it blow-up / mess up anything ? anyone have any opinions on what it is i should do instead ? thanks.

Re: Turbo going bad, need help.

On a budget a 14b may be the way to good. Good ones are in the hundred dollar bracket. Still used, and still a risk though. New 16gs go from 500 to 600 bucks. Your call. Read the vfaq on how to install it, you'll need the usual parts (j pipe, l pipe, and feed/return lines) or use some of the various tricks found in the vfaq and in other threads on this forum and others. For example, reuse your water lines but swap them, and file out the holes on the 2g return line so it can be reused, etc. Read all the instructions you can find FIRST, then ask specific questions here if you have any. Good luck.

ya i now realize that since im new i realy dont know what im thinking half the time......all i want is power....and the fastest way to get their.....but im slowly learning that without having alota money their is no fast way. ill have 3000$ to spend on my car this coming pay-check, and i thought i knew what i wanted to do but everytime i re-think what i want to do i end up changing my mind......ive been reading alot here and its helping a lil here an their.....but im still not as confident that i know what i want and what i should be doing to increase my cars performance Vs. what is nessessary and important to do first. can i hit 300 HP in my GSX with 2000$ ??....safely ?

Concider it a blessing. lol The 2G Turbos are worthless, you can easily find a good used 1G 14b Turbo and the necessary odds & ends for it to work & fit correctly.
