dropping an 04 Ram

I just bought a 2004 1500 2wd 2dr. 4.7L Ram. i just want to know if anyone has tried putting a 1" block kit on the rear of a truck like this to level it out and how it turned out or if anyone has any other ideas/suggestions. any input is appreciated.

Re: dropping an 04 Ram

if you are wanting to just drop the rear of the truck with out spending any money, just take a couple of the spacers out between the leaf springs. they are a half an inch thick a piece. i did this on a 2wd 3500.

Nealuss,
Best advice I have for you is drop it right, or dont drop it at ALL!!!
Dont listen to a bunch of knucle heads who are going to have you mess up your suspenion system. If you want to drop your truck and you do it 1/2 @ss then your truck is going to ride like crap!!!
Most people will tell you to use lower blocks. However you cannot just use lower blocks on your truck you have to buy a kit that flips the leaf springs around. So dont think you can get off cheap with a $80.00 lowering block kit. The leaf spring flip kit is at least going to cost you another $200.00-$250.00.

If your just tring to level out the truck with the front end there is an Old School Method you can use, but it dose take some skill to pull it off. Basicaly what you do it get a torch and heat the springs put some weight in the bed when it drops to the height you want then start doing the other side. This heats the springs and shortens them. This is allot better then cutting your springs or buying lowering springs.

Over all... The Lower block and flip kit is the best way to go...

My 2 Cents
Rick

Re: dropping an 04 Ram

thanks for the advice rick. two more questions for anyone who cares to answer them, roughly how much will a full airbag kit cost me; and will a 2"-4.3" drop leave the truck draggin its ass?

The price really depends on the speed meaning the reaction time. You can get a kit from a 1 second reaction time to a 8 second. How fast you looking for. I sell Air Ride air bags. If your interested in purchasing a kit e-mail me. [email protected]
