okay, so i buy this stupid car, and now it stalls when i try to shift it into gear, and when i finally get it to drive it jerks when i take my foot off of the gas.
and most of the time it stalls at red lights and when i stop, unless i put my foot on the gas while i am breaking.

You need to describe symptoms better, but it sounds like a TCC solenoid. Here is what normally happens. the car runs OK and after a while it starts to shudder when stopping at a stop sign etc., then stops completely. Starts back up but stalls as soon as put into gear(Forward ro reverse). Unless you floor it and shift into gear, won't go at all, unless you let it cool down for 5-10 minutes. If this is what yours is doing then you can unhook the TCC solenoid by taking off your air filter assy and unplug the 4 conducter cable. The stalling will cease, but you will lose some gas milage. The car will have to run a bit faster rpm's to go faster speeds. To fix it on a Corsica means around 200-400 dollars)depending on where you live) to repair, as it is in the transmission. Costs about 200-250 in most local garages here... Many people leave it unhooked and keep driving like that for years. Transmission shops frown on that as they say is causes undue stress, but I know many people still driving after years.
If your car is stalling due to poor or low idle speed you can help by tuning the car, cleaning the IAC valve, and checking for cracked vacuum lines and intake rubber cracks, splits (going into your air breather). If you are getting check engine lights from time to time, get it read at any Advance Auto for possible sensor errors.
