Question speedometer question

my buddy called me yesterday and told me that his 89 rs speedometer is jumping up and down, he said he did a serious burnout and ever since his needle has been jumping up and down, he has a 700r4 so do you guys think he has to tighten up the cable or what.

yeah id say its just dry, my moms 85 z28's speedo hand used to float like that too.

could a dry speedo cable also make it stop from workiing cuz my speedo also used to do that until i maxed it out and now it dont work anymore
