are you kidding me? I've avoid pimp my ride like the plague. It's like asking to be branded a ricer on national television. I think at least half the cars on pimp my ride are sold on ebay.

Overhaulin' on the other hand....

Re: it hurts... so bad

no way man, to have my car's body work all done for free? fuck i don't care if they put racing stripes on the bitch, tell em i just want a Twin Turbo, i'll be set.

the point is, you get something tht has that much, you don't sell it on ebay... you cherish it. i mean, who wouldn't want to have all their car problems fixed for free?

Re: it hurts... so bad

I think it would be cool to have all the electronics they install on these vehicles, and wouldn't complain one bit if they did it to my truck.....however I wouldn't want the silly/crazy paint schemes + wierd interior additions (like water falls, coffee makers, etc.), just something simple (like, black, the way it is now for paint, lol).

The wheels and tires would be OK, just so they didn't go ridiculas (I wouldn't complain if they went 17, or even 18 inch wheels, just so the tires had some snow traction and they upgraded the front disc brakes to compensate for the bigger wheels).

So yeah, as long as they didn't do something stupid like a flame/racing stripe paint job and some stupid interior addition, I wouldn't complain!

Now if I had my druthers, I'd want Overhaulin' to do it. That way you'd get engine/suspension/brakes/etc. upgrades (like Edelbroc's mult-port fuel injection conversion for TBI GM trucks, 1.6:1 rockers, new lifters, springs, cam-nothing wild, just something for more low end torque, and shorty headers).

That is (and would be for one of those shows) my wishlist for my truck.

Re: Re: it hurts... so bad

Well...The only thing that bothers me is that they do nothing to the proformance!!!! Some of there custom stuff looks ok, if they made it fast aswell it would be a lot better...Did you see that one where they totaly fixed the CRX's motor..Like everything was wrong with it...Why not swap in a intergra gs-r motor or something?

Re: it hurts... so bad

because it's called "pimp my ride" not "zip my ride"

they rebuild the motor at least... not just dress it up. that crx's motor was shot, but they brought it back to life... which was pretty cool. the kid deserved it too (which you havn't seen him or the hot civic chick with the lambo doors on ebay btw, only the punk kids that changed their mind and didn't really need the ride)

they only rebuilt that motor cuz the POS died on the way to getting "pimped". they should have dropped a nice Fuel injected B16 or B18 in there for him and not that same ol shitty carbeurated 1.5L.

Re: it hurts... so bad

What they do to cars is blasphemous. But, I do like overhaulin'. My favorite episode of Pimp My Ride was with the asian guys 240sx that they made look like the one in that video game. It made me laugh so muchhhhhh. haha. ricer.

Stupid

I personally think "pimp my ride" is a really dumb show. It seems like they just do what it takes to make the car look shiny on the outside, then pass it off.

I don't know about you guys, but I caught a glimpse during the one time I watched it and they were really troweling on gallons of bondo on the body. Not a sign of proper body/paint work. Another one was where they cleaned the engine bay, added a chrome air cleaner, and dumped some motor honey in the oil.

I like what they do in overhaulin', and the host girl is pretty hot, so it gets a thumbs up. Even then, it can get a bit generic. They always seem to be dropping a small-block chevy into everything. Try something different! But I guess when they have a week to do it, it is an amazing feat!

What pisses me off though is when I say I have been working on my '72 Cutlass for several months and people say "Oh, why does it take you so long? They do it in a week on TV." They just don't understand!

Andy

PS I would never let my car get near either of those shows.

except for Pimp My Ride would never give you that.

Instead, they'd give you this: www.turbonator.com

Tuner Transformation. There's a good show. I saw them make a Paseo go RWD and set it up for drift using a TC Tacoma motor I think. I don't remember, but I do remember that Paseo had some balls. Good show.

As for Pimp My Ride, it should be Rice My Ride. Overhaulin', another great show. They take cars that are practically dead, fix the body, interior, sound system, wheels, suspension, and new motors. They do everything. They practically give you a brand new car that can spank most cars on the street. If anything, I would like my Civ to be Overhauled. That would be great . L8...
