Subwoofer recommendations

Hello all, My question is which subwoofers and type of enclosure would work best in my del sol. I intend to put them in the trunk and hook them up to my JL 1000/1 mono amp. I have heard a lot about the solobaric l7's, but im not sure. Also, i dont have enough to buy a JL W7 or any other woofers iun the 800+ range. Any imput on this would be great!

Infinity makes a good SQ sub. but they would never be able to hold up to the 1000/1. If you cant afford W7s get W6s or W3s. I have had both model subs on a BD1000 and they handles great.

Re: Subwoofer recommendations

if you have a jl 1000x1 amp i would at the very least do a w6v2, anything less and youre guaranteed to blow it. Eclipse Titanium series bump like no other. my neighbor replaced his with a w7 because he poked a hole in it, and gave it to me, i now have it in my hatchback along with two 12w3v2's. eclipses and certain fosgates buuump.
it would be a very bad idea to put a 1000x1 to any sub that costs less than 4 or 500. get the w7, dont mix apples and oranges. w7's are physically impossible to blow o ut. you can straight up plug them into the wall socket in your house and they will bump up and down but are the only sub that wont blow. JL audio showed off by doing it for 300 hours straight. the only sub ive ever heard of that is able to do so. sure theres a select few subs out there that are like 1500watt RMS or what not, but if youve got the 800 dollar amp get the 800 dollar sub that was made specifically for it. whether you choose the 12 inch or 13.5 inch is up to you.
my experience with w7's is the bass is so low that is doesnt reach the higher frequencies very well, like a 10 inch would, so if you listen to music with guitars and drums a lot you might want the 10 inch w7, which really sounds like a 12inch of any other brand IMO.

If you got the H2, you'd be happy! Did a 15" H2 and ran it with a 600d and it still hit over 140db!!!! Yeah, that loud with only one 15". It sounded pretty good even though I am not a 15" fan. 2 12" would work great for you. Did another car with 2 12" H2 subs being ran off a Directed Audio 1500d. Man, is that car ever gonna shake apart!

If you want to save a little $$, DEI Directed Audio line is close to their Orion line, just a little less. They have a new SX line of subs that seem real promissing. Take a look... www.directed.com

Re: Subwoofer recommendations

i think i may go with infinities for my setup since i'm all about SQ! but i've heard nothing but good things about W7s, and if you have the amp to push em, then by all means go for it!

Re: Subwoofer recommendations

go with the adire brahama seen here...www.adireaudio.com... best of both worlds, great sq, great spl these things can handle 1600 watts rms and you can find them for half of what you would pay for a w7.

Look into Image Dynamics ID Max V.3 Subs. These are so of the best SQ subs out there, and they can also get very loud. They are also a lot less than the W7's. They are 1000 watts RMS, Dual Voice Coil Subs. You can get them in 2 or 4 ohm, so choose depending on your amp. For example, if you amp is 1000watts RMS @ 1ohm, then get the 2ohm and bridge the voice coils to get the load down to 1 Ohm, if it's 1000watts RMS @ 2 ohms you can get the 4ohm and bridge the voice coils to get it down to 2 ohms.

W7's

If you do get the W7's make sure you don't bump to loud or else you won't have windows. My friend has a lincoln aviator and he blew out all his windows with 2 JL 12 W7's and infinity 6x9's and 6's, and replaced it all with plexiglass to make sure it won't happen again. they are great subs though, i have 1 12 jl 6v2 and its great.
