ecu+vafc

ok i askd you guys about the p28 ecu for a d16z6 swap in a rex 91 si and you said yes. so now i know what to get, but then i heard that if i get vafc that i can use the stock ecu ... so simple, that answered my question. but wait theres more someone else said still get the p28 ecu because it will be faster because it is the ecu from the d16z6 and its programed for the z6 so more fuel and air to the motor. But I thought that I could control that with the vafc... HELP

Re: ecu+vafc

u can't control the air w/ any computer, only the fuel. u'r stock Si ecu will work perfectly fine w/ the V-AFC. u'll be able to do better fuel management if u go that route, instead of buying a set program in a p28. i'm going the same way, because i didn't want to convert to odbII (i'm building a y7/y8 for my 88 dx rex)

Re: ecu+vafc

not to be an ass, but wut's the point of better fuel maps if u'r running a fuel controller? yes the pg7 runs richer than the pm6, but if u r running a V-AFC then u can change the map completely.
however one thing the pg7 would help out, it raises the rev limiter to 7500.

Re: ecu+vafc

convert to OBD1 and get the P28. You will be happier in the end.

Your sohc vtec motor will run much better than with a pm6 or pg7 with a vtec controller. If you want to go that route to just have a "cool vtec controller" just get the vtec controller along with going OBD1 and with the P28 then get it dyno tuned.

I used to have a d16z6 si hatch and it was slow as balls. it was controlled by a pm6 and vtec controller, I wish I would have went OBD1.

Re: ecu+vafc

so i should still get the p28?
civicHBsi91 this scares me is the d16z6 a bad swap because i dont want to be slow as balls as you put it . and i would love to get a b16a2 or b18c5 but i have the money for that so is there a better swap for the same money say around 700 dollars and the has to be lots of parts out for it thanks

Re: ecu+vafc

the z6 is good if your car is lighter, some guys hit low 14's with hf's all gutted and stuff but most heavier cars are slower...

my z6 hatch probably would have hit high 15's at best...

I think even with a great driver, low 15's would be the fastest et youd probly see.

Re: ecu+vafc

Stock D16z6 with a P28 will run low 15's to high 14's depending on how much weight has been removed from the car. If your running 16's you have major problems or you need to get a gokart with a centrifugal clutch. P28 is the only eay to go if you want your car to get good gas and preform the best.

Re: ecu+vafc

n: obd0 with vafc

just do it right and convert to obd1. Then you could get the vafc if youd like.
