Greetings Danny,

I know you already got one answer - but I'd like to add just a bit more. Because there are 2 different 6 liter engines in the Chevy lineup - you would want to refer to the "SS" engine as the LQ9 engine. Although I don't have an SS - I do have that engine in my new truck. The LQ9 engine operates at a 10+ compression ratio.

Also if you are interested - the other unique SS item is the suspension model in the SS - known as the Z60 (again I have that same suspension in my truck - though I'm not an SS).

Re: Silverado SS

Wow, sounds like you have a badass truck my friend. I was checking out the website, and the price for the SS is almost 40K! How much do you think yours is worth? Cuz performance wise is pretty much the same thing. Thanks again!

Greetings DannyC4,

Actually - I've seen most SS truck s with MSRP's in the $44K or 445K range with leather etc..

Actually - I would asusme the performance of my truck would be better than an SS because a truck similar to mine will be about 400 pounds LIGHTER than an SS - even though I have the same engine, same suspension, same transmission. 400 pounds lighter is a lot - not just for power to weight ratios but also for handling, cornering, etc.. For some the SS is just the thing - but AWD is not the same as RWD. I like the responsiveness and handling that RWD offers - even in our Wisconsin winters. So far this winter - I've had excellent traction on snow, ice, etc.. Also - I get about 20.5 MPG on the highway even with a 345 hp engine. Witho only 3700 miles on it - its just starting to get broken in - and I can feel a difference since I got it with 22 miles on it.

MSRP on my truck (not leather) was $33,000 (then minus off rebates). But to me - it was worth every penny of the MSRP. The suspension gives it an entirely different ride feel (very smooth yet excellent cornering/handling). I like "unique" so this vehicle fits me that way - to each his own LOL.

Re: Silverado SS

I agree with LIghtening about the costs. For 40k you could buy a real basic truck, a used 6 liter engine, a turbo/supercharger, maybe a trans build, and be WAY faster than a stock SS.
