high idle???

my 93 stealth rt tt is idling very high, when i purchased the car it idled at 1k rpm but recently it began to idle higher and now it sits at 2.5K rpm at idle what could be the problem????

Wow thats a very high idle, might want to check the throttle body and idle controll valve. Does it do it when its fully warmed up even?

You will want to check for a vacuum leak. I had a similar problem when I put an intake on my lude because I stopped up one of the sensors. Normally though, it means that you are losing pressure in the cables that run to the throttle body. One of the easier ways to find the leak would be to spray some WD-40 over the hoses and look for where it is being sucked up.

when i first start my r\t it idles at about 2k until it warms up.

it idles high even after the car is warmed up, the rpm will bounce from 1 to 1.5 to 1 to 1.5 then it will sit at 2.

Wierd, clean out your throttle body and make shure the vacume lines associated with it are clean also. I think theres a screw on the seft side of hte trhrottle body that helps controll the idle so check that too.

Erratic idles are typically caused by bad spark plugs, bad o2 sensors, or vacuum leaks...are you getting any check engine lights?

no check engine light, unfortunately now my car dies at times when i release the gas pedal after a hard acceleration
