throttle cable

I found an article on throttle cable adjustment the other day, and now I can't remember where it was. Do any of you guys know where it might be. I thought it was in the vfaq but maybe not.

I found these by searching throttle cable adjust, using my user name. If you know who posted in the thread you are looking for, that little "search by user name" box is invaluable.

Edit> If the mods want to copy any of that into the faq thread, feel free as always.

Re: throttle cable

Not sure what you mean. It helps to use DSMlink's logger to make the adjustments the normal way. You dont have to use the idle rpm adjsutment though. In fact its not even recomended if you dont know how to do it right. All DSMlink does is change the target idle speed, its up to the user to make sure the ISC is in the right postion, etc. In one of those threads I should have explained how to go about this. If not, the DSMlink specific instructions would be to set the throttle cable as I described, set the target idle speed to what you want in DSMlink, then adjust the BISS until learned ISC postion (looged with dsMlink) is ~144. Like fuel trims though, learned ISC position takes some time to adjust. Several minutes of idling at the least, I like to make one change per day just to be sure its done adjusting. Otherwise you end up chasing your tail all over the place.

But as should be explained in the above linked to threads, the point is to use the BISS to get the ISC in the center of its available travel range. If you have a grasp of what that means, you should have no trouble setting it up. HAve fun

Re: throttle cable

Sure,

ISC - Idle Speed Control (motor)
BISS - Base Idle Speed Set Screw (which is misleading, since its not there to adjust idle speed!)

I do use a shitload of acronyms. If it hasnt been done by someone else I would be happy to put together some sort of DSM acronym dictionary.

Kevin, I was at the road race engineering page looking at that MAS modification article, and I was wondering if you had tried that before. If so I wondered how much gain you saw, and if it was worth the trouble? Is it even necessary with the stock turbo?

Re: throttle cable

I'm assuming thats the page about hacking the mas. Highly not recomended on 2g sensors. They read well up to 50 lbs/min, verified on my own car too (49 lbs/min before it started trying to slip the suasage to my motor). There are times when it makes sense though. Some of the DSMlink guys are using the MAF compensation tables to get away with hacked MASs, and they then read up to 57 lbs/min I believe.

For reference, a T25 is good for like 22 lbs/min (been too long), 14b 30 lbs, 16g 35-42 (small through EVO3), 20g 47-48 lbs, 50 trim, 50-52, etc.

I was referring to removing the screens, and using the adjustment screw on the bottom. I think they do it to try and avoid fuel cut, but I wanted to do it to get those screens out and open up the airway.

Re: throttle cable

Yeah, that's whats called hacking the MAS. I defintely wouldn' run a hacked MAS, especially without dSMlink.

You just fucked yourself! I'd make a great detective! I knew it all along, just didnt have the proof until now!!

96 GSX or in your case = Talon

DSMlink (GAVE THAT ONE AWAY, MR OBVIOUS!) And you said without using it... Wait, oh thats right, you have dsmlink but you cant nor do you know how to use it!

Your turbo @ 25psi... as stated before by O Hero

You live 15 Miles away from O Hero

You have the same exact IP address - Explain that one.

Oh and here, I found this pic in O Hero's gallery. Doesnt it look an aweful lot like the pic in your gallery? The little pic is whats in your gallery, and the big pic is in O Hero's gallery!

Kinda strange for you to also own a '92 Nissan Skyline but always post in the Eclipse forum!

If you come back 1 more time I will be contacting your ISP. Yes, maybe you got away with it for a couple months this time, but from now on, I will be screening everyone, background checks, maybe even what your using for software! Tempt me, I dare you! I didnt have a problem with you under this name, but last time, you put up such a big sissy fit and acted like an immature little baby that I really wouldnt give a shit if you were here. So thats why your ban became permanent, then you just keep going down hill from there!

So from now on your banned, unless you can send me a pic of you next to your 96 GSX with a piece of paper saying: "ECLIPSERST DOESNT KNOW SHIT". I also would like you see your Skyline... Personally I like them so send one of those my way to! Then another pic of your engine bay with all these mods you have listed done to it.
