Do you mean total or after you have drained the tranny? The service manual that came with the car should list what the total quarts are (I don't have mine in front of me). However, I am not sure where you find out how much to put in after you have drained the car. I wish I had the answer to that as well.

Lubricant capacities (from the service manuals)
Manual transaxle [to bottom of filler hole]:
FWD: 2.3 L (2.4 qts)
AWD: 2.4 L (2.5 qts)

Transfer case:
5-speed: 0.27 L (0.29 qts) [1991-1992: 0.43-0.51 inch (11-13 mm) below the filler hole; 1993+: to bottom of filler hole]
6-speed: 0.30 L (0.32 qts) [to bottom of filler hole]

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

It was 16 dollars a quart. I got it from 3sx. Its good if you have a tranny that shifts hard. And I hear it cures the problem of bad syncros. Im gonna put it in on saturday ill let you know how it feels.

Re: Transmission Oil

Does anyone know how many places in the drivetrain you have to change the lube? How often? And what are the different kinds of lube needed for the different parts?

This should answer all the questions.

Oh, and I know it's a bit late, but I got Synchromesh at Autozone for $7 a quart.
