Rear hatch water leak
I know that there are several of us that have been fighting rear hatch water leaks for a long time. I have solved the problem 3-4 times only to have it come back, after being dry all summer my leak started again once the temps dropped this winter.
I noticed hairline cracks right at the end of the "roof gutter", where it drains into the gap between the main body and the hatch. It looks like seams that were never sealed properly. It would make sense that when its cold and metal contracts that those cracks would be bigger. I bought some touch-up paint and filled those hairline cracks on both sides, its been several weeks and it is staying dry. I am cautiously optimistic that this is it! So far I have -Removed roof rack and sealed the holes for the bolt mounts -Caulked the tops of both hatch hinges and around the hinge bolts -Caulked the area where the windshield wiper / electrical stuff passes between hatch and main body. All of these seemed to fix it, but now I am wondering each of these steps just fixed it for the summer months and each winter the leak came back? Time will tell. |

Re: Rear hatch water leak
Scottw, I finally broke down and applied the “newsienna” fix to my leaking 96 Grand Caravan.

Re: Rear hatch water leak
Can you provide some details of what exactly the newsienna fix is?

Re: Rear hatch water leak
Hmmm . . . I don't see where buying a brand x would fix your Caravan . . .
