body kit/ wing

Ok i have a couple questions here. I was curious but is there any negative thing about molding a body kit to your car? How much will a place charge to put on the body kit and mold it? Also when i take off my spoiler how many holes will there be that i need to fill and are they big are tehy

The downside of molding a body kit is that when you have to repaint. for what ever reason, you have to paint a larger area. Plus its a pain in the ass.

also, if something hits your bumper, you have a nice big crack in your paint at the spot it was moulded. And yes, there will be a few ~5-7mm holes left when you remove the spoiler.

So if you was putting a body kit on you would mold it or would you not mold it. If i could get some replys on what you guys did

dont mold it inless u plan on only using your car for car shows ... If you use it for everyday driving its not worth it.

if you mold any thing on do the side skirts. other than that nnnnnoooooooo for several reasons unless you got a show car on your hands.
1. let's say you need access to let's say...an fmic ..................get the picture.
2. unless the guy doing the molding is friggin awesome its gonna crack. i.e. potholes, snow pile, small animal, or dip in the road and say bye to the paint.
3. it damn sure ain't cheap....(i know i get paid to do it)

do what ever you want but...sometimes the easy way is the best way.

i would never mold anything, just like they said its just asking for trouble. and it doesn't look that much better IMHO

I say mold it all except the front. I have the side skirts and the rear bumper molded on my eclipse. It gives the car a much cleaner look in my opinion. The fron I would not mold, just incase you do need to get at a fmic or what ever else. plus the front is the most likely part to break as it hits th bumps first and driveways curbs etc.. but on the res go for it. You'll be much hapier with the look in the end.

stay away from molding if you can.

The first real Blitz kit they came out with was geniune expensive stuff. From what I hear, fitment wasnt the big deal it is today. All the cheap copies that have now flooded the market posing as Blitz kits are HORRIBLE quality (yes, you know, the $250 complete kit ones). Basically, the cheaper you go, the more you will need to mold/fix/customize.

So yeah, I'm with most people: stay away from molding. All it's going to take is a single crack, that'll eventually travel its way all accross the mold job...ouch. What about ever needing access, like others have posted... I thought I was never going to get an FMIC, until this crazy deal caught my eye on DSMTuners and I jsut went for it... it would've been hell if I had any part of the front molded.

If you live in CA, you KNOW the insane labor rates here. I'm not too sure about othe places, but any custom job will require time and custom fabrication, and that never, ever ends up cheap no matter where you are, unless your blessed with hook-ups, are an avid do-it-yourselfer, or sponsored.
