Hello all,
I will be installing Power Door Locks in my 99' Dodge Ram. this truck does not have existing power windows, door locks or a security system at all. I have purchased a Micro DLR4 from http://www.bought4less.com Comes with actuators and 3 built in relays. I wanted to see if any one has installed power door locks on a 99 Dodge Ram before and has some advise to give. I am also looking to find a place to splice into the Ram's wiring harnes but not sure what wires are what so if any one has any wireing digrams for the 99 ram this would be great. I need to hook up the following to the factory wireing harnes and Im trying to find a decent location so that I dont have to tear down the stering colum to do it. Lol ![]() I) Pin#1: MAIN POWER-RED: Connect the red fused wire to a constant 12v positive source. Micro recommends direct connection to the battery. Be sure to fuse this wire, An amp atc fuse and holder are provided for this. Be sure all connections are fully insulated. 2) Pin#2: GROUND-BLACK: Connect to the negative terminal of the battery or to a solid chassis ground. Improper grounding will cause malfunctions. Be sure ground is clean and well insulated. 3) Pin#3: +l2v SWITCHED IGNITION-YELLOW: Find the wire that supplies switched positive l2v to the ignition. This wire is usually located in the steering column li;irites ‘Ihis Wile will have positive I 2v when key is in ignition position and when starter is crankine. 4) Pin#4: +12v PARKING LIGHT OUTPUT-WHITE: Find the wire that supplies positive l2v to the parking lights only. This wire is located at the headlight/parking light switch or the light itself DO NOT CONNECT THE HEADLIGHT WIRE OR THE UNIT WILL BE DAMAGED! Vehicles with independent left and right signal. I will probably do this this weekend. Thanks in advanced. |

Re: Installing Power Door Locks in 99 Dodge Ram
You'll have to run all the wires through the doors to the motors. You can't splice into and OEM wires to make them work. Also, pay attention how you mount the motors so they are not in the way of anything. I usually do not fully tighten everything until I know it all will work as is. Otherwise the set screws and such will loose their effectiveness.
As for the power and such, take the knee knocker off and you'll see all of your power wires going up into the column. Goto www.bulldogsecurity.com and look up the info on your truck for which wires to use.
