Alpine IVA-d300 Problem(multimedia unit)

I have read through the manual several times, and I cant seem to get it to display my DVD's, I can hear them play but nothing shows up and when I try to switch to AUX to display it it says "Picture off for your safety"

I tryed what it said for the display dvd video mode, enable parking break while foot is on regular brake. And still locks up even with keys in on or ACC position. I tryed reseting the unit to, no luck.

Please anyone tell me what I need to do, or what is wrong with my unit.

sounds like it is hooked up wrong ... there are several connections that are to ensure that DVD's are not being played while the car is moving (legal stuff)
