Vacuum Control System Malfunction-Check Engine Light

My check engine light is on AGAIN. It is a monthly thing. This time the error said Vacuum Control System Malfunction. Anyone have any ideas? I just had it serviced. I had oil, air filter, tires, and fluids replaced. I am going to have to take it to the dealership but they always try to SCREW ME since I am not knowledgable on the issue. Your help is much appreciated.....

Don't know if you have OnStar or not, but if you do, next time the light comes on, call them up & ask them to run a diagnostic check on your ride & have them give you the trouble code. That way, you could give the dealer the code & they should be able to figure out wqhat is wrong with it.
Other wise, if you don't have it, the dealership should be able to run it for you.....that is, if the light remains on by the time you get there

Just call the dealership next time it does it & tell them your coming right in & to have them figure it out. The more I read on here, the more I am finding out that the dealerships don't really want to stop what they are doing & help a person out. I know that they are busy & all, but hey, we spent ALOT of money for our rides & we should be getting excellent service instead of mediorcre.

First off the dealer is not out to screw you. Have you taken your vehicle in to have them diagnose the problem?
Who pulled the code?
What is the number?

Onstar can tell you what the code is, but they cannot diagnose the problem.

The light does not have to be on. When the code sets, it leaves a code in history and it leaves some limited fault data to help in diagnosing the problem.
If the light is out, that means the circuit or componant has passed the self test and the fault is no longer occuring. (But can reoccur later)

Now wait just a minute here! You want me to drop everything I am doing to help you when you bring your vehicle in?
What about the people who dropped their vehicle off the night before to have it serviced or the ones who came in first thing in the morning. Or better yet the guy who has been waiting 2-3 days to get his vehicle back from a major repair?
Are these people less important than you? They spent a lot of money on their rides also.
They deserve excellent service also..lets be reasonable here and think about the big picture for a minute.
Everyone wants everything NOW and no one thinks they should have to wait...patience is a vertue that most people have lost.
What do you want the dealer to do..hire a tech that is dedicated to your vehicle only so you cant get that excellent service you think you and no one else deserves? Or can you be a little reasonable and think for a minute that the techs may be busy and it will take some time for one to get to a point that they can stop what they are doing and take a look at your vehicle.
Would you want to be the customer who didn't get their vehicle done on time because Mr. Jones dropped in and we had to stop everything we were doing to accommondate their special needs

Sometimes the problem isn't the dealer, but the customers that have unreasonable demands

The local Chevy dealer is anything but reliable, honest and straightforward.
When I took my TB to autozone, they were able to tell me the code. It was the vaccumm control system malfunction error. The light is now off. I waited for my gas to get down to empty before filling it up. The light went off. So maybe somehow the gas cap was not tightened down? Not sure?
