Re: differential go boom
Your friend, and Phat suck at driving.
![]() HEH.. In three years of racing my hatch a couple times a month at the track, I've never had such a problem. *knocks on wood* |

600 bucks now biotch! yea couple times a month.... i go like 4 - 5 maybe 6 burnouts a night, plus numerous hard launches, hard shifting and constant racing... thats why each one lasts 6 months.... but look at how much torture it can go thru (and this is the DX trannys) thinking of picking up a quaife tho and slappin it in an Si trans

Re: differential go boom
preloading parts makes them last longer

Re: differential go boom
My friend had one blow up in his h22a tranny, blew a big hole in the tranny case.
Makes me nervous to think about, not sure I really want one after all the horror stories I've heard. |

Re: differential go boom
like all the parts in a tranny have alittle bit of play in them so like if you are rolling back and you do a burnout, with the tranny switching from back to forward because of hte play it slams the parts together.
preloading is like when your sitting on the line you let the clutch out just enough so it touches and just ever so slightly starts to roll you forward, you then pull your ebrake so you stop rolling so the parts in the forward position, vs dumping the clutch right off the line and the whole drivetrain get that shock. its basically slipping your clutch say you got your 450whp civic, so you sitting on the line with stock axles. you go and dump hte clutch of course you know the axles are gonna break. but if you preload them theres more of a chance the axles taking the abuse. a guy with a 450whp civic went 10s with 24.5" slicks with stock axles |
