Gordon Murray leaving McLaren?

I saw this on a Grand Prix news site and didn't see anything about it here. Thought I might post it.

Re: Gordon Murray leaving McLaren?

He has been intervied saying he may leave Mclaren before apprantily he has a new design up his sleve not an F1 type car but some sort of unconventional city car is sounds like havent got a clue what he has in mind but hes supposed to be a fan of smart cars. (you know the plastic very upright looking things)

As an aside, if you look further down the page, you'll see that Mauro Foghiere (former Ferrari F1 designer) is planning a McLaren F1-style, F1-derived supercar.

Personally, since I know Murray is a big motorcycle guy, I'd love to see him dip his toe into that pool.

You may have seen a newer article, but I've read in several places that he's a Ducati man. I have one F1 article with a sidebar, in which he says, "If I'm not shaking when I get off my Ducati in the morning, I know I haven't done it right!" In fact, it was a motorcycle "feel" (light and lightning quick) Murray wanted to capture in a car.

No wonder this guy designed the finest high-performance car ever made.

Re: Gordon Murray leaving McLaren?

naahh....the Yamaha R1 is far cooler than the Hayabusa. Even though cannot match it's top speed.

I'm no such a big fan of bikes actually. I really preffer cars...they can stand on their own..

Hayabusa is indeed one of the fastest bikes in the world, along honda's blackbird. I couldnt find the turbo clip (burned it on dvd) so here's one that does 0-220mph in about half a minute (!)

Here's the clip:

n'joy

Britten V-twin is the McLaren F1 of the bike world, without question.
- One man's vision.
- Super exotic in so many ways, you need to read about it.
- Very limited production - 10 made total.
- Unbelievably fast, shattered many records.
- Advanced aerodynamics, construction materials.
- Handmade.
- First attempt by the company at a roadgoing bike (F1 was McLaren's first attempt at a road car)
- Swept the podium in most races in its first year.

Blackbird - Lamborghini
Huyabusa - Viper
