Yeah please someone help

Um alright. The other day i went to start my car and it made a real lound bang. The day was a really cold one. So i think it had something to do with that. But anyway....

i came to find out that the plastic piece that is the Intake whatever it is. Not the manafold or whatnot. Well it cracked...alot...like the whole thing is cracked. Its only the plastic crap.

Does anybody know what might have caused this stuff to do what it did???

If you could post a picture or give a better description of the piece of plastic that broke it would be possible to help you but without it it will be difficult.
