timing chain
i have a 94 s-10 blazer when i replace my timing chain should i replace the gears as well or are they usually in good condition still? and please dont tell me to check first because this is my primarty vehicle so i dont have time to rip it apart put it back together just to order the parts and take it apart again

Re: timing chain
Always replace the sprockets with the chain. One, you are already in there and will have them off so why not. Two, the sprockets wear into a patern with the old chain so a new chain will not ride correctly on the old sprockets. I don't know if I have ever seen a parts store sell the chain without the sprockets. Good luck and if you have a 4.3 don't get too frustrated with the oil pan.
