Question AC Compressor keeps cycling...

...on and off even when not selected at the control knob. I notice it at idle, it will kick on for maybe 10-15 seconds, then cut off. Maybe 1 minute or so later it cycles like that again. Any thoughts?

OK...but why would it be cycling even though the AC has not been turned on at the control knob? The control knob is turned to heat/defrost while this is happening...it is, after all, still winter here in Philly...<smile>

that is normal,,when in defrost it is supposed to cycle,so it doesn't sit and even lock up throughout the winter months when the ac isn't needed........
