I Need To Know What Size Bolts Go In My Motor Mount.
I have a 1997 geo metro, and the bolts from the motor mounts fell out. I asked the auto parts store and they didn't know. Can anybody help me with this information? I would really appreciate it.

Go to a junk yard and get new motor mounts off another metro,or order some new from the parts store

Motor mount to frame - M10 X 1.25 pitch
Motor mount to engine - M8 X 1.25 pitch engine block to trans - M8 X 1.25 pitch Put some loc-tite on it when you put it back in. They have a tendancy to vibrate loose sometimes. |

Re: I Need To Know What Size Bolts Go In My Motor Mount.
Found the same thing today. 2 of 3 bolts holding the front drivers side engine mount were missing. Didn't want to take the last bolt out & leave the engine hanging.
Seems like a common problem. Wonder if this is what gave me a problem getting it into gear at a stoplight awhile back. Everything else checked out ok. Came here to find the size to fit a 96, 1L. Found " Motor mount to engine - M8 X 1.25 pitch" - does anyone know how looong? Thanks, Gumby_CT

Re: length of my motor mount bolts
As previously mentioned you can get replacement bolts from a junkyard or if those aren't available you can get an idea of how long the bolts need to be by sliding a piece of wire in the bolt hole until it bottoms out, mark the point on the wire where the head of the bolt would be if it were there, remove the wire measure the length and subtract a bit (say an 1/8 to 1/4") and you now have a target length. Or (perish the thought) you could buy them from a dealer.....

I found mine at The Nutty Company http://www.nutty.com/index.shtml
They have ALL kinds of fasteners & lucky for me are nearby. The bolt heads were 17mm instead of 14, but who cares. The guy (at the satellite store) won't help you if you don't know what size (I know that from experience). Gumby > NOT good at metric So for future reference, mine were - 96- 1L - Motor mount to engine - M10 X 1.25 pitch x 35mm $1/ea. Yes, I picked up some loctite too. Done...
