Silver ARB on Xterra

Well I finally went ahead and had the ARB painted silver. After I reinstalled it I decided to have the grille painted to match, looked odd being a different colour. The original powder coating is still there, just scuffed up to allow the new paint to stick. I also requested some extra paint for those sure to occur stone chips or parking lot losers.

Hmmm...

Looks really nice on silver... Matches the step rails very nicely.

Attn: Anyone with a yellow X is not permitted to try this. See archived Mustard Custard threads for the reason why.

Seems like the silver is the only color you can pull this off with. I would have kept the grill black and light covers black just to break up the silver, but different strokes.

Did you make the flap that covers your winch hole on top?

Thanks for posting. I have a feeling SuperJens will be next.

Don't worry XXX still takes the X offroad. The steps are there just for the winter.

I was gonna say that the "silver" ARB looks okay! But Rhombus caught the "remove step rails before wheeling."

Winter form

Look closer and you'll see winter tires too. The rails and wheel/rims are there for winter, when I install the summer tires the rails come off.

I made the cover for the winch hole because at the time I had no $$ for it. I should have my winch soon, besides I was tired of looking at that empty hole .

Looks good. I agree with Schlud. I think if I was to do it I would not paint the grill.

Damn you, I've been coming back to this thread to look at the pics all day. Just when I thought I had a grip on my spending ...

Actually I'm still holding out to see pics / proof of the Calmini winch bumper (a completely seperate topic, just mentioning it in passing).

Yeah, that looks a bit odd too. I can see why you painted it.

XXXTERRA your right. It does look much better painted.

Think I'll wait for Jens to do the mod first. :frog:

I would be interested to see it again after a summer of wheeling?

How did you figure out what color of silver to get? I looks a bit flat compared to the Nissan paint.

The shop used the code off the door, it looks different under different lighting. We'll see after a summer of trail runs....lucky I asked for extra paint.
