JDM S1 Tranny Question

I know this is a cable tranny and its suppose to have a cable sticking out. Now on my S1 tranny it doesn't have a cable sticking out, instead it has the steel hydraulic line connected to the hydraulic pump or ram that connects on the front of the tranny. Is it possible to ghetto rig a cable tranny and turn it into a hydraulic tranny? And also if someone could please tell me what the hell is going on with my tranny? is it cable or is it hydraulic? thanx
