NooB help....

hey everyone, new to the scene...i have a question i hope isnt stupid...i heard that you cannot install an aftermarket head unit into my civic (96 ex coupe) without screwing up the keyless entry. true? ways around it if true?

u have to keep the head unit in your car somewhere with one of the wires still connected to it

thank you both!....(hopefully that link will appear soon.. )...i just got my civic today, so...woo hoo...

anyhow, which unit do i need to leave in? the head unit or the tape deck? can one be taken out without a problem with the keyless?

help, por favor......

I couldn't find the damn link, but I've gathered a little info. What you need to get first is a harness that allows you to retain the keyless entry. If you go to a stereo shop and just tell them what you need they'll probably have it for you.

Then, when you hide your factory cd player behind your console, you need to take the face off of it and put it somewhere where it'll get good reception from your remote. Either you can leave it in the stock location and put your aftermarket one in the cubby hole beneath it or one person recommended shoving it down behind the 12 volt outlet.

After all that greatness, wire the harness in following the instructions it should come with.
