Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
I've got a 2500HD, I pull the occasional trailer with light to medium loads no problem. I am about to start pulling trailers more frequently, medium to heavy loads. Previous truck was '98 Z71 that I put 2 tranny's in and the guy that bought it replaced another.....lemon. Anyway, scared to death about screwing up this one, will a cooler help? What about the servo's.....looking for longevity.

Re: Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
Let me just say this: A cooler never damaged a tranny. Can't go wrong putting one on.

Re: Re: Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
Thanks J-Ri......what would be a good "basic" up-grade package to add to this truck? Something that would help with protection and performance.

Re: Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
Is it an automatic?
If yes, then DEFINATLY get a seperate cooler for it!! Any truck with an auto needs one. If it has a manual tranny, I would still reccomend one, but it's not necessary. |

Re: Re: Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
It is automatic, V8 Vortec 6000. The truck just hasn't performed the way I thought it should, I want more power (not speed). I'm probably going to add a power chip and cooler....what are my best options?

Re: Do I need a Tranny Cooler?
Definitely get the trans. cooler. As far as performance goes intake and exhaust will give you some good gains and make your truck sound aggressive. Be careful with power chips, some don't do anything but rob your gas mileage but I'm not sure about ones for the newer Chevys.
