Need Turbo Advice
I have a 97 civic with a stock GSR engine in it. I want to put a low boost turbo on my car. I just picked up a drag manifold and a garret turbo (T3 i believe). I am wondering if I can get away with just using a FMU as long as I keep the boost low? Or do I need to modify other parts of my car to acheive this? Also what honda fuel parts can I leave stock if my goal is to have 220hp daily driver.

Re: Need Turbo Advice
its going to be as reliable as you make it. i personaly dont like fmu's but i have seen them used up to 7 psi. the better tunned you are the less chance of blowing it and thers not much tunning to an fmu. i went with a safc, walbro 255 pump and 450cc injectors and its worked fine for me. this way you dont have to mess with the map sensor or your fuel pressure. i run 10 psi daily with this setup.
colder plugs , intercooler and retarding your timming will also decreese the chance of detnating fuel is the one thing you dont want to be short on |

Re: Need Turbo Advice
I wouldn't skimp on the fuel management system. I would put in an Uberdata or Hondata system on that set up just to prevent future problems w/ detonation. I would also for sure buy new injectors.

Re: Need Turbo Advice
you can do the fmu, but, that is so old school. there are so any new and better fuel management systems out nowadays.
when the day comes for you switching from the FMU to a better fuel management system, you will wish you had got it in the first place. i also think you can do better than the drag manifold. try blox or inlinepro.

Re: Need Turbo Advice
i heard that the tubular mani's are kinda crappy tho?? Is that true? I don't have any experience w/ them , but i have heard that the welds break and they start to leak.

Re: Need Turbo Advice
tubulars are more prone to cracking compared to cast, but, theres positive and negative aspects of both.
blox and inlinepro cast iron is a nice manifold with a good position for the wastegate compared to drags. i like cast because it just gives you more room to work with, but, if you want more on the performance side, tubular manis are the way to go.
