Okay, help me here dudes.

I have a 2000 maxima SE automatic, and when it is still cold in the morning, if I come to a real sudden stop, THE EFFING ENGINE STALLS! I don't know wtf is up, I know this isn't normal....but if the car is warmed up, it doesn't happen? Any ideas?

Re: Okay, help me here dudes.

hmm...try not to make sudden stops?? lol j/p try and put it in neutral and see if it still happens?? or let the car run and get warmed up first? i dunno? i have a friend who has a 1994 cavalier Z24 auto and if he was goin to make a high speed stop quickly he would need to throw it into neutral otherwise the engine would try to stall...i think its because the trans is still tryin to make the car go and it just shocks the engine...i dunno...

Zillion possibilities with those problem details. Cold engine always uses various tricks to keep it running: More fuel, O2 bypassed, idle revs higher etcetc...

Some ideas of its complexity: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748507/14

My 96 has a similar issue.

I think it's in the transmission - Maybe a cold tranny wont let the TC take up the energy that engine is trying to put out.

Moral of the story, let the car warm up.

Wow... that sounds so familiar! LOL... Take a look at my post here... See the second paragraph of my first post... Hopefully you won't have to go through all that other CRAP that I had to go through (and am still going through now) to get it fixed.
