buying an mr2

im thinking of getting an mr2, but i have 4000 tops to spend on one. im another poor college kid who managed to hide some saved moeny form teh school. i know i can get an mkiii supra for that money, but can i afford any type of mr2?

certainly a nice 1st gen.

With luck, a 2nd gen NA, that will need work.

is an 88 supercharged considered first gen? i found one for 4500, but the engine was dissasembled. how fast and how much potential do the first gens have? would i be better off with the supra? i really like the 91-95 turbo mr2's, but right now theres no way i can afford one

1st gen: 85-89
2nd gen (US): 91-95


Nay on 4500 for a disassembled 88 sc... it's really up to you on which one you want.

yea, there was no way i was gonna get that. do these cars seem overpriced for you? average price for a second gen that im finding is 7000, and thats with around 100k miles.

I found a 91 mr2 turbo that i got for $2800. it has 120,000 on the body, 60,000 on the engine and 6000 on the turbo. and all it needed was a clutch and i put a rebuilt trans in it which i got for $390

I got my 93 Turbo in great condition, 140k miles, @ $4500

Finding MR2's is hard, if you want a Turbo youll prolly end up with a 91-92 w/ that price range, or an NA of any year.

i saw a mr2 sitting outside somes guys house and it hadnt moved for quite a while so i asked him if he was selling and he said yes. so i guess u could say i got lucky. that would be my thrid MR2 in less than a year. my other 2 are N/A though.

I found a 92 mr2 turbo for $3995

this was at a dealership, but I was to late, they sold that baby quick.

sad sad day. it had 120,000 but I would of replaced the engine sooner or later.

I'm a poor college student to, and damn schools are pretty greedy when it comes to their money.

what part of the country do you live in? tell me if your considering selling one of your other mr2's, because id consider buying.

i live in Geneva,IL. i had a 93 n/a but that got ran over recently so i had to junk that but i have a 91 N/A im trying to sell. i have a guy willing to pay $3000 for it with just the windshield. it comes with a new windshield, 17 inch koning rims, cold air intake, greddy exhaust, another engine from the 93 N/A it has 150,000 miles on it, and the 91 has 187,000 miles on it.
