B-series engine information

There is a HUGE article in the latest issue of Honda Tuning about all different things regarding the B-series engine. A lot of it talks about the various parts you can switch between the B-series and what OEM or HOE parts are good buys. It is definately worth the buy if you want as much information as possible about B-series engines.

The first of the VTEC B engines was the B17A1, making its appearance in the 1992-1993 Integra GS-R.
WTF??? First of the B-series engine was the B16A in the JDM spec 1G integra closely followed by the 4G Civic and CRX

I can't say I'm impressed by the article - it's very weak talking about the bits and pieces that can be bolted on compared to what I've read in Aussie articles - not to mention it goes on about the BS frank engine - my pet hate

4/10 in my books

(I'm a bastard though )

It wasn't a bad article. I read it at the store while waiting for my girl. It felt like it was intended more for someone that isn't familiar to the B series engines.

The B16A, first found under the hood of the del Sol Si
Wtf, its abit older than that

Also the B16A was in the del Sol VTEC, the Si only had the D16B.

And as for comparing it to a small block chevy sheesh

Not only do these engines (B18C1) have a ton of aftermarket support, they also drop right into most third- to sixth-generation Civics with little modification
Yep, a B18C1 will fit straight into a 3G

Maybe the rest of the world doesn't exist as far as the writer is concerned

I missed that comment Dejoux. My guess is that the guy ripped a ton of info off sites and and advertising brochures - I sure as hell hope it wasn't his own work. I went back and re-read it and it's not real knowledgable at all

I think he's talkin about US B-series? Cause the first B-series v-tec did come in a 92-93 US integra GSR. Then comes the sol and the civic . I know b-series no new news to other parts of the world then but it was to us.

no JDM G1 integra ever had a B16A in it unless someone swapped it in

the top engine of the G1 integra was the ZC. however, the g2 integra had a B16A in it. as did the EF Civic SiR

My bad on the 'teg... although I was sure I'd read somewhere that it got the B16... checked Hondas site and they don't list it.

I know the EF had it for some reason

I never picked that up in Setantas original message.

First came out in 89 I think in the XSi/RSi Teg

Yup - I knew they came in the '89s, but associated '89 with the 1G 'teg not the 2G.

I'm buggered if I know why too... prolly 'cause the teg never really interested me until the ITR.

Actualy it was the 90 model year of the 2g teg that got the first B16a, but it was sold in late 89. Just like our SiR's are 90 models, but were probobly sold in very late 89, or early 90.
The XSi was the first, with the wider S1 g/box, and then the RSi came along in 91 and 92 with the closer ratio YS1 g/box. (also avliable Iv been told on the very few EF9 SiR RS's made for Group N homolagation.)
