Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

Looks great. Not everybody can draw an engine bay that looks good, but you handled it really well! One thing i see is the spoke spacing on the back rim, otherwise everything looks great.

BTW: please do me and everyone a favor, and don't draw any ridiculous fast and furious decals on it.

Alex

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

thanks for all the great replies .

i fixed the back rim(or tried to) and i dunno if anyone else notices this or if its just me but the valve cover thing looks kinda like its tilted up. i tried to lower it a little. i also finished shading(which i am not good at). this drawing took forever with all the measuring and stuff.

and dont worry, im not going to draw the decals on the car but i think im gonna draw in the logos of the companies in the background.

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

here it is done:

its not really that smudgy. i had to make it lower resolution so i could put it in my gallery on AutomotiveForums.com.

one more question: how do you keep a pencil drawing from smudging when you're done with it?

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

if you cant get it behind glass. hairspray will work. be carefull not to spray too close. it doesn't take much.

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

try a matte fixative

periodic spraying should help.

hairspray depending on brand is a viable option, but fix is cheap.

If you're getting heavy pencil residue build up you might try a less toothy surface, and last but not least draw from left to right using a blank piece of paper under your drawing hand. (righty's)

where's Alex he's got to be able to chip in on this one?

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

That is a very good drawing. The acuracy looks right on.

I like to use a clean peice of paper under my arm. That helps a lot. I would use fixative instead of hair spray, just me though.

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

nice work. i think u can be a bit more "aggresive" with the shading.. (make things darker, more contrast)

Re: 90% complete Bomex Supra

yea... i suck at shading. its probably what i need to practice the most but for some reason i never really wanna do it. probably cuz i dont know how.

thanks for the help with the fixative stuff. some of my other friends also helped me with that.

when you guys draw from a reference pic how do you go about doing it? do you first draw all your lines the draw in the right curves and stuff? what i did was i draw all these straight lines all over my reference pic and then drew them on my paper. then i measured with a ruler and started drawing in curves and such. maybe ill try freehand soon.

thanks for all the comments!
