recent loss in power
my friends 98 accord lx 4cyl vtec coupe has been running sluggish lately after a few days of owning it, the check engine light hasn't turned off. i suggested it might be the vtec solenoid because when at high RPM (when the vtec is supposed to kick in) it doesn't, it just shifts gears. his mechanic mentioned somthing about the catylitic converter but he is highly doubtfull that it could cause that drastic amount of power loss.
plz help my friend out he is my only ride around thx |

Re: recent loss in power
go to autozone or whatever and have them pull the code off of the ECU. Give us that code and it'll help...

Re: recent loss in power
If you have a clogged cat it would cause serious lag and it would trigger an CEL. Take it to Autozone and have them pull the code for free. As with any time you get a Check Engine Light...the car is trying to tell you something, listen to it and get the troubleshooting code retrieved, as that is the best way to pinpoint the problem.
